Magnum Augustale Castel del Monte Nero di Troia Riserva DOCG

Description
A skillful vinification of Nero di Troia grapes – the oldest grape variety of our land – gives birth to this sumptuous, precious and aristocratic wine. It has the same color as a fine ruby, aromas of red fruits and woody notes, thanks to aging in barriques for at least 12 months. A glass of Augustale is a real joy for the senses, a pleasure to indulge in.

Grapes

Pure Nero di Troia.

Production area

Selected vineyards in the territory east of Ruvo di Puglia, on the limestone hills of Alta Murgia.

Farming system

Spurred cordon with an intensity of 4,000 vines per hectare.

Harvest time

End of October.

Winemaking

Freshly harvested grapes from vineyards over 30 years old are taken to the production plant for careful selection of bunches and subsequent destemming. A pre-fermentation maceration is then carried out at 12°, followed by fermentation in steel for 10/15 days at 23°. It is then gently pressed and malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel. The wine is aged for 12 months in wood, partly in second pass barriques and partly in large 80 hl barrels. After bottling, it spends 6 months more in the glass before being marketed.

Organoleptic notes

Deep and impenetrable ruby red color. Its exuberant character reveals an unparalleled olfactory intensity. Red roses and potpourri, fruit and boeros soaked in alcohol, cloves, cinnamon and cinchona, menthol and aromatic tobacco. On the palate, the alcohol and velvety texture of the tannin balance an intense freshness, essential for long shelf life in the bottle. It closes long with balsamic and toasted notes.
