• OSCAR DOUJA D’OR ASSIGNED TO OUR AUGUSTALE NERO DI TROIA RISERVA DOCG 2014

    The 53rd National “Douja d’Or” wine exhibition in Asti, held from 6 to 15 September 2019, saw our “Augustale Nero di Troia Riserva Docg 2014” crowned with the prestigious Oscar, a prize awarded to a limited selection of Italian high profile labels that have reached at least 92 cents in the voting. Out of 786 candidates only 29 received the maximum title and we are proud that our best wine is part of this prestigious selection.

    Furthermore, Crifo is one of the 164 companies that have obtained at least one prize and collects 3 prizes among the only 7 awarded in Puglia, our region of belonging. Moreover two other jewels from our cellar have received prizes in the prestigious Asti event: the “Augustus Castel del Monte Bombino Nero DOCG 2018” (Douja d’Or Award with 89.2 / 100) and the “Terre del Crifo Nero di Troia Puglia Igp 2017 “(Douja d’Or Award with 87.8 / 100).

    The authors of the severe selection of the Competition, now in its 47th edition, are the Onav (National Organization of Wine Tasters), Ais Asti (Italian Sommelier Association), Aspi (Association of Italian Professional Sommellerie) and some sector journalists: Paolo Massobrio, curator of the Il Golosario guide and Alessio Turazza, collaborator of the Gambero Rosso.

    The presence of the Asian taster and Onav China member, Wang Lu, underlines the international depth of the event from which Crifo comes out as the leading brand.

    Our culinary journey could only start from Ruvo di Puglia, where Upepidde  RistorArte shines as a precious gem in the culinary firmament of the territory. Elected “Bib Gourmand” restaurant by Michelin Guide Italy 2020, it is located within the Aragonese walls dating back to the sixteenth century.

    Upepidde  RistorArte is directed by Dino Saulle, a well-known expert and wine taster, alongside with chef Simone Coviello whose dishes are inspired by the territory of Alta Murgia.

    To open the dance is the “Nero di Troia Terre del Crifo” together with an egg foam with melting yolk and black bread croutons on a delicate  mousse of 24 month parmesan cheese and fresh truffle wafers.

    As the first course they pair Pansotti with smoked ham, parmesan sails and shredded meat on a mirror of yellow pumpkin and balsamic vinegar, with the decisive character of “Castel del Monte Rosso Terre del Crifo”.

    The king of our cellar, “Augustale Nero di Troia Riserva Docg”, is served with tasty lamb ribs with pistachios in aromatic sauce, mashed potatoes and vincotto, otherwise with a succulent entrecote in real truffle sauce, pink berries, hot yellows and tarallo crumbs.

    The “Squarcione”, to sublimate the experience, is accompanied by a triptych of locally produced aged cheeses.

    At the end the “Cryfus Moscato” is served with either an in glass tiramisù with coffee cream or a pistachio and chocolate shavings parfait with toffee cream.

  • FIRST PLACE FOR OUR MOSCATO CRYFUS AT THE XII EDITION OF DOLCE PUGLIA

    A prestigious recognition in Puglia for our Cryfus Easy, Moscato Puglia IGP. This Charmat method has just obtained the first place in the Sweet Sparkling Wines category at the XII edition of Dolce Puglia; that’s an appointment that even in 2019 saw the Murgia Delegation of AIS PUGLIA hosting fans and experts in the admirable context of the 36th Fighter Wing of the Italian Air Force at Gioia del Colle .

    On the evening of Saturday, December 14th the delegation was chaired by Vincenzo Carrasso who described the “Guide of Dolce Puglia 2019”, a rich summary of the tastings of all the labels participating in the event. Our oenologist Dr. Massimo Tripaldi, the president of Assoenologi Puglia-Basilicata-Calabria, has instead animated the conference “Scented with sweetness: the Apulian sweet wines from aromatic vines”.

    After the high votings in the famous Douja d’Or Asti competition, this new award sees the Cantina di Ruvo di Puglia as the protagonist of an excellent growth path. 2020 promises to be the year of confirmation of the Crifo brand among the Italian excellences that represent the flagship of Puglia in the world.
